WordPress Survey Results
Interesting results and patterns were found in our latest survey about your WordPress habits in the last three weeks. Because of the useful answers we have decided not to stop it, so the survey is still running, and therefore these are partial results.
Let’s now dive into the questions, answers and of course the numbers
- 38% of respondents work in micro businesses with 1-2 employees. 32% work in companies with 2-10 employees, 18% work in companies with 10-50 employees.The remaining 12% work for companies larger than that.
- Respondents’ WordPress experience is mixed. 9% have less than 1 year of experience. One third have 1 to 3 years, the next third have 3 to 5 years of experience. The remaining narrow third have +5 years of experience.
- 77% of respondents agree that it would be a useful feature if their favorite plugins were automatically pre-installed.
- The biggest weakness of WordPress is security according to 41% and speed according to 24%. Additional respondents identified a number of other issues. For example: stability, auto update, scaling, too many plugins.
- 68% of the respondents feel they have no problems with WordPress that would save them money.
The remaining 32% gave a variety of answers. GDPR support, Auto update, Security, Better, more stable plugins. - In general, for 41% it only takes a few minutes to set up their development environment. For 32% it takes half an hour, and for 21% it takes about 1 hour. Only 6% said that it takes them more than two hours to set up their developer environment.
- 47% also spend only a few minutes installing plugins and themes. 35% spend about half an hour. The remaining 18% spend an hour or slightly more. When asked what feature could speed up this process, we received numerous individual answers. For example: plugin related requests.
- The favorite SEO plugin of the majority is Yoast SEO with 44% then Rank Math SEO with 24%, another noteworthy is All in One SEO with 12%.
- Their favorite CACHE plugin with 24% is WP Super Cache, WP Optimize got 21%and Litespeed got 18%. The rest of the responses were split between other plugins.
- The prefered payment-related plugin is PAYPAL, highly with 56%, followed by Stripe with 32%.
- When asked about their favorite theme, the answers were mixed, but a third of respondents prefer Ocean WP, Astra and Avada themes.
- And last but not least: their top 3 favorite Visual Builder with 35% is Elementor, 21.9% is Gutenberg Editor with 24%, then Visual Composer Website Builder with 9% and 9.4%.
We also asked about plugins that they always install for a new project. Here we have received a lot of expressed answers, many of which were security related plugins, ACF, Contact form 7 and Wp Mail SMTP, Limit login attempt, hide login.
